What you’ll do:
Under the direction of the Director, Assets & Design, the Asset Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Asset Management Program at HOPA Ports. This position is responsible for ensuring that all existing assets are logged into the new ArcGIS software, update the assets following any major changes or additions to assets, and ensure that regular asset condition assessments are carried out and logged into the system. The Asset Management Specialist will also be the key person to run queries on port assets and develop reports and recommendations for budgeting and forecasting of capital asset expenditures.
Key Responsibilities:
In cooperation with various departments, you will provide expertise and support in the following areas including but not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, developing and implementation of a new asset management program and system for HOPA Ports.
- Gather, create, compile and maintain asset inventories and databases using GIS tools such as ArcGIS software, AutoCAD and Trimble GPS survey equipment.
- Manage and analyze data on HOPA’s assets, including but not limited to: wharfs & piers, roadways, railways, bridges, facilities, and utilities such as storm, sanitary, water, pipelines, electrical, data, and gas.
- Collect and manage as-built asset information and records for all capital infrastructure and major maintenance projects.
- Ensure that regular condition assessments are carried out and logged into the asset management system. This may involve the procurement of outside consultants or conducting assessments yourself or with the assistance of internal resources.
- Assist in the preparation of annual capital and operating budgets, and provide recommendations related to repairs, replacements or improvements based on information collected through the asset condition and lifecycle cost analyses.
- Provide comprehensive reports related to the current condition of port assets for various departments including: Engineering, Commercial, Maintenance, and Finance.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Civil Engineering Degree/Diploma or relevant Degree/Diploma for a relevant discipline from accredited college or university.
- Minimum three (3) years experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities
- Asset Management training and certification from a recognized Institute or College considered beneficial.
- Formal training and certification in GIS and use of ArcGIS software considered beneficial.
- Possesses excellent working knowledge of ArcGIS
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Working knowledge with asset management software such as Cityworks
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong understanding of environmental policies, regulations and legislation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Intermediate MS Office including Word and Outlook
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
SALARY RANGE
Starting salary of $70,000-74,000; commensurate with experience.
